![]() HarborLight Credit Union is committed to “Preparing youth to be financially responsible” by helping young people build a strong foundation for making wise financial decisions. We offer several youth-oriented programs, in addition to our Early Bird Savers & Team Varsity Club programs. Youth Financial Workshops Typically held once a year for high school students, these FREE themed workshops are designed to provide fun while teaching money management and credit responsibility. Our most recent themed workshop, “American Credit Idol”, focused on credit reports and credit scores using a rock music theme. A panel of judges reviewed credit scenarios auditioned by students to receive their credit “score”. A door prize (iPod Nano) and lots of great giveaways added to the fun! Food was also provided from Subway.
Student-Run Branches (SRBs) HarborLight Credit Union has partnered with Montague & Whitehall High School and the Muskegon Area Career Tech Center to provide an SRB on school premises. This program provides hands-on education of finances to students by teaching good money management skills and habits. The Wildcat SRB, Viking SRB, & the Currency Corner are open once a week throughout the school year.
Classroom Presentations HarborLight Credit Union offers free classroom/community presentations that teach financial literacy to all grade levels. If you are a teacher, troop leader, church youth leader, other type of youth leader, or perhaps a library, we can conduct a financial presentation for you on a variety of financial topics.
